  • Listed in "Who's Who in Black Chicago" as one of Black Chicago's Ten Most Interesting People and honored at a special tribute held during a gala celebration at the Hyatt.
  • "Special Recognition Award" from the Chicago Minority Business Development Council presented during the CBOF gala in 2006. Melody was saluted for her excellence as editor of Chicago's Minority Business and for her exemplary Public Relations work she's provided for the Council.

Melody McDowell has been featured on a host of television programs including Minority Business Report, WGN-TV, WCIU-TV, WVON radio and many more.

She has also spoken before trade associations and colleges. She was a panelist for the 2002 Global Diversity Tour where Magic Johnson was the keynoter. She served as a moderator that following year when Russell Simmons was the keynoter.

Ms. McDowell was also profiled in Essence Magazine as a businesswoman of note. Her business triumphs have also been chronicled in the South End Citizen, Standard News and in the Star Newspapers.
